One of Irish football's brightest prospects made his debut cross-channel last night

The Dubliner only completed his move to the League One side on Saturday.

IT HASN’T TAKEN long for Chris Forrester to get his football career in Britain started.

Having signed for Peterborough from St Patrick’s Athletic on Saturday, the Ireland U21 international went straight into the side for Tuesday’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash with Millwall.

Unfortunately for the 22-year-old, however, he was on the losing side, with an injury time goal from Dubliner Shaun Williams giving the hosts a 1-0 win at the Den.

Former Ireland U21 striker Aiden O’Brien also featured in a tight contest.

Of Forrester’s performance, the Peterborough Telegraph commented:

“He started in central midfield and his performance mirrored the team’s – he was bright and inventive for the opening quarter before becoming less effective and sloppy.”

The reporter also stated that Forrrester is “worth persevering with,” adding:

“Forrester’s self-belief was evident in a second-minute 40-yard strike at goal in an attempt to take advantage of home ‘keeper Jordan Archer’s absence from his area. He also buzzed around promisingly, demanding the ball and generally using it wisely.”

The player has also given his first interview since joining the club (see below).
