The Dubliner lost despite impressing with an emphatic second-set win.

IRISH NUMBER ONE James McGee suffered a disappointing first-round exit at the French Open qualifiers today.

McGee was beaten by Britain’s Jamie Ward 6-1 1-6 6-0 in Roland Garros.

The Dubliner impressed with his emphatic second-set win, but ultimately, a lack of consistency let McGee down, as he was beaten in the decisive set without winning a game.
