Ireland Women storm back from 12 - 0 down to win Dubai 7s Challenge Trophy

Anthony Eddy’s side have gotten better as the Dubai leg of the world series has gone on.

IRELAND HAD IT all to do as they entered the second half of today’s Challenge Trophy final trailing 12 – 0, but they pulled out all the stops to complete a thrilling comeback to beat Spain 12 – 14 at the final hooter.

Megan Williams and, with two minutes on the clock, Lucy Mulhall crossed the whitewash for Ireland in the second half, and the Wicklow woman’s conversions made all the difference as she nudged Ireland two points clear.

After Spain had showed their threat with tries from Patricia Garcia and Maria Casado in the opening portion, there was drama still to come as Amee Leigh Murphy Crowe – who contributed three tries yesterday – showed her defensive prowess with a try-saving tackle to seal victory 46 seconds from the finish.
