Megan Williams and, with two minutes on the clock, Lucy Mulhall crossed the whitewash for Ireland in the second half, and the Wicklow woman’s conversions made all the difference as she nudged Ireland two points clear.
After Spain had showed their threat with tries from Patricia Garcia and Maria Casado in the opening portion, there was drama still to come as Amee Leigh Murphy Crowe – who contributed three tries yesterday – showed her defensive prowess with a try-saving tackle to seal victory 46 seconds from the finish.
