Here are the full details:
6 day turn around between Scotland opener and japan as hosts, who will be gunning for us, but a nice break to prepare for hopefully South Africa in the quarters, England in the semi and nz in the final. Easy.
@Peter Moran: lol remember the last time, sure if we b
@Paul Friday Shannon: they still have nightmares of the kaiju they call Toner
@Peter Moran: England will probably win their pool. Puts them in the opposite side of the draw to us. Itโll more than likely be South Africa in the Quarters, Australia in the Semis, and then either NZ or England in the final.
We could potentially have to beat all three Southern Hemisphere giants on consecutive weeks. That would be something.
More than likely get Austrlia in the semi which means we have to win the tri nations to win the World cup. Easy
@Andrew Corrigan: ya youโre right I read it wrong. France could beat Australia though. Regardless I really just want them to get to the quarter finals in good nick and not an emotional and physical wreck like last time.
South Africa will have 3 more days rest than us going into the quarter.
Great. We suffered a lot of injuries from having to play France last on our group in 2015. Getting the big group games out of the way early will help us if we qualify.
3 pool games on the weekend is a help for getting to watch them anyway
This is a good draw for us.
New Zealand v South Africa
Sat 21st in Yokohama
Ireland v Scotland
Sun 22nd in Yokohama
Not a bad weekend of rugby!
Well I donโt care how they dress it up, Scotland will be tough, the hosts will be all out to beat us โฆ this is the easiest group we could have possibly get. We should be beating Scotland if we have any ambitions and to be fair usually do in the professional era.
We wouldnโt even e considering Japan a threat only for their one off performance against SA in the last WC. They have done nothing since. This is a really great opportunity to get to a semi and possibly further.
@Kevin McMahon: nothing since , they brought Wales to the wire in Cardiff last autumn โฆ
@Lad: subtract 9 hours. Going to be watching the games over breakfast
@Shane Russell: eight hours until the clocks go back. No DST in Japan.
So itโs most likely going to be South Africa who knock Ireland out this time round?
Actually the RWC website says that weโre only 8 hours behind for the pool games, the clocks mustnโt go back over there
First game could go a long way to determine our success in the tournament. Wonโt be easy though drawn with Pool B and either New Zealand or South Africa.
Just registered to apply for tickets!
@Ciara Baines: at least yeโll have Sam wrapped up by then Ciara and youโll be over in plenty of time!!
Cant wait until they lose in the quarter finals again
@Martin Quinn: They have no rugby. Connacht needs to send free buses.
Same aul shรญtรฉ everyone presuming weโve topped the group already..the Scots are no pushovers & 2 more years under Townsend will only make them more competitive.
Cool the jets like!
So likely Romania/Russia for Europe 1? Who are the possibilities regarding the play off teams??
Ireland always seem to save their worst form of the four year cycle for the World Cup. Wouldnโt be counting Scottish chickens just yet. If the Scots keep improving and Ireland arenโt focussed, they could easily end up playing NZ in tge quarters.
Weโre 9 hours behind them
@COYBIG: Now. But 8 in Sept before clocks go back maybe?
Alot of people saying Ireland v South Africa quarter finals on the cardsโฆ but last time Italy played South Africa, the Italians won. Think thereโs a good chance of playing the Italianโsโฆ they have been really improving domestically in the Rabo league.
Ah Fukuoka ! I wonโt be able to make it
Wednesday, October 3rd? Best put down for the annual in for that now soโฆ.
@Dave Murray: as we say in Cork Daveโฆwhayaonabouby?!!
@Dave Murray: D-oh! THURSDAY, October 3rdโฆ.ah f&*k it just take both days off.
The RWC website and Google Calendar are giving the times as an hour later than quoted here โ maybe due to daylight savings time. Anyone know which is correct? Times 08:45, 08:15, 11:15 and 11:45.
Jaysus. 7am is an early time to be getting shitfaced.
Games commentary by Mr. Alec A. Doo
Are the BBC showing the WC free to air as I know itโs only Eir Sports that are showing it in Ireland
@Shaun Gallagher: according to an article from last year Ireland games and the knockout stages have to to be free to air (so I presume either RTE or TV3), EIR have rights to all tournament matches. I believe BBC has rights to England games 2 years ago, but ITV were the main tournament broadcaster.
@Shaun Gallagher: Eir , what % of viewers signed up to that crowd. They are still the same as Eircom. Mickey Mouse service and bad customer relations. I remember being in Holland watching Ireland beating The All Blacks in Chicago and when I came home I heard that Eir had lost the transmission. LOL !
Iโd give my right nipple away to get to Japan to see them
@dick dastardly: only the right one?!
@dick dastardly: What did you do in exchange for the left one previously??
Great ,top the group, south Africa, England followed by all blacks in final . Piece of piss
Only the Hob Nobs and Corporate Suckers will be able to afford Japanese prices. There will be people at the games that would be asking why is the ball not round !
@Terry Cahill: japanese prices not as mad as you might think if you can handle noodles and the local grog.. if ye be wanting bacon spuds and cabbage washed down with creamy stout be prepared to pay thru the nose for it.
Likely to be Romania and Samoa as the last 2 teams in our group.
Iโd expect Namibia and Canada to come through their qualifiers too.
The last team could be 1 of Hong Kong, Spain Uruguay or Kenya (long way to go before this is decided though).
