- Ben Blake reports from Versailles

THE LEAGUE OF IRELAND has produced many players who have gone on to represent their country at international level.

Of the current 23-man squad that is currently in France for Euro 2016, eight spent time on the books with clubs at home before making the move across the water.

They are: Wes Hoolahan (Shelbourne), Stephen Quinn (St Patrick’s Athletic), Shane Long (Cork City), Daryl Murphy (Waterford United), Stephen Ward (Bohemians), David Meyler (Cork City), James McClean (Derry City) and Seamus Coleman (Sligo Rovers).

After today’s training session in Versailles, that group returned to the team hotel at Trianon Palace and put on the jerseys of their old teams.

We approve.
