The latest Fifa rankings are out - and no, it's not good news for Ireland

The United Arab Emirates and Burkina Faso have got company.

IRELAND HAVE FALLEN in the Fifa rankings for a third straight month.

Martin O’Neill’s side drop two places to 67th and are lodged between the United Arab Emirates and Burkina Faso.

The Boys in Green are now just three places above their worst-ever ranking of 70th.

Germany remain the world’s best side at the head of an unchanged top seven. Behind the world champions it’s as you were for Argentina, Colombia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Brazil and Portugal while France drop one place to eighth and Uruguay leapfrog Spain into ninth.

Ireland’s Group D rivals Scotland drop two places to 38th while Poland — who visit the Aviva Stadium in March — are up to 40th. Georgia are unchanged in 126th.

There’s bad news too for Roy Hodgson’s England who drop two places to 15th and for Northern Ireland who drop back outside the world’s top 50, down four places to 51st, while Wales remain in 34th.

Was James McCarthy on the receiving end of a Branislav Ivanovic headbutt?
