THE 2017 DIAMOND LEAGUE series continued in Switzerland last night, and the Irish women’s 4x100m team produced a memorable performance in front of a large crowd at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise.
In the final event of the night, the Irish U20 quartet of Molly Scott, Sharlene Mawdsley, Gina Akpe Moses and Ciara Neville smashed a national junior record to finish sixth in a world-class field.
Running out of lane one in Lausanne, Ireland crossed the line in an impressive 44.31 to eclipse the previous record of 45.08 and also record the fifth fastest Irish women’s 4x100m team time.
