Daryl Murphy's winner sees Mick McCarthy win the battle of the Irish bosses

The Tractor Boys got the better of Chris Hughton’s Brighton to consolidate their place in the Championship play-off spots.

IPSWICH TOWN CLAIMED a 1-0 win over Championship title contenders Brighton at the Amex Stadium this evening.

Ireland striker Daryl Murphy scored the only goal of the game on 32 minutes, his first in over a month, as Mick McCarthy got the better of his former Ireland team-mate Chris Hughton.

The result means Brighton are now five points off the top in fourth after a second consecutive defeat while Ipswich are four points back in sixth.
