MAN UNITED STRIKER Zlatan Ibrahimovic has claimed Tyone Mings “jumped into his elbow” after the pair clashed in controversial circumstances in the two sides’ 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
The two players stole the headlines after Mings appeared to stamp on Ibrahimovic’s head while minutes later they clashed again with the striker appearing to elbow the defender.
Speaking after the game Mings insisted he did not intentionally stamp on Ibrahimovic and said that he was a “hard and fair” player.

Ibrahimovic has now given his thoughts on the second clash between the pair and insists it was simply an unfortunate coming together.
“With the elbow situation. I jump, I protect myself, I jump very high, he jumps into me. I think he jumps backwards and I jump straight up and unfortunately he jumps into my elbow,” he told MUTV.
“Hopefully he’s not injured or something and the situation happens. I go for the ball and unluckily he jumped into my elbow. Nothing on purpose, nothing to do about now and hopefully he’s not injured.”
United captain Wayne Rooney has also given his view on the incident, claiming Mings’ stamp was “wrong” and admitting he expects the defender to face retrospective action.
Manager Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, was reluctant to discuss the incidents after the game but did insist Mings “knew what he was doing” and was seen talking to the defender as the two teams emerged after half-time.
Neither player was punished by referee Kevin Friend for the incidents during the game but could now face retrospective action in a draw that may also hurt United’s top four hopes.
The Red Devils have already missed the chance to move into the top four by taking only a point that keeps them in sixth, level on points with Liverpool who play Arsenal later.
However, should Ibrahimovic be hit with a ban, the loss of their leading goalscorer could hurt them further particularly as they face a hectic fixture list due to their FA Cup and Europa League commitments.
