GER CUNNINGHAM’S DUBLIN reign began properly as the National Hurling League gets into full swing this afternoon.

We were live from Parnell Park for Dublin v Tipperary, but we also be kept a close eye on matters out west as Galway hosted Clare in the day’s other Division 1A clash.

As always, we’d love to hear your comments. Send them to niall@the42.ie, tweet them @The42GAA, find us on Facebook, or leave a comment below.

And that’s it from us. We’ll have match reports up shortly. Thanks as always for your company this afternoon.

And two late scores from Jason Flynn has given Galway a one point win over Clare. A Frantic finish at Pearse Stadium.

70 + 1min: Galway 2-15 Clare 1-17: And it’s Flynn again, this time with a free and the Tribesmen lead in stoppage time.

67 mins — Clare 1-17 Galway 2-14: The sides are level thanks to Jason Flynn’s effort.

Joseph Cooney’s goal keeps Galway in the hunt but it’s Clare 1-16 Galway 2-12 with 10 to play.

Dublin 2-20 Tipperary 0-14

All over in Parnell Park and the Dubs beat a disappointing Tipp by 12 points.

GOAL FOR DUBLIN! Dublin 2-20 Tipperary 0-14

Liam Rushe ices the cake for the Dubs, firing across Gleeson and leaving the Tipp keeper with no chance.

Dublin 1-20 Tipperary 0-14: Seamus Callanan with what could be the last act of the afternoon.

Dublin 1-20 Tipperary 0-13: Great work again by Cian Boland to secure possession and Danny Sutcliffe points.

There’ll be two minutes of additional time here in Parnell Park.

It’s shaping up to be a tight finish out west — Clare 1-12 Galway 1-11 with just over 15 minutes to play.

Dublin 1-19 Tipperary 0-13: Great work by Cian Boland on the left. His pass gives Dillon the space to run and he points. All over bar the shouting here.

Dublin 1-18 Tipperary 0-13: Bubbles points. He’s been the only thing saving the Tipp attack this afternoon.

Dublin 1-18 Tipperary 0-12: Paul Ryan points a free and then sub Cian Boland adds another. Dublin lead by nine as we enter the last few minutes.

Half a chance for Tipp as Brendan Maher pops it to Callanan but he runs into traffic and Colm Cronin clears.

Dublin 1-16 Tipperary 0-12: Conor O’Brien points. That’s four unanswered for Tipp but unless the goals come, it’s likely to be too little, too late.

Dublin 1-16 Tipperary 0-11: Bubbles again.

Clare 1-12 Galway 1-9: Five minutes into the second half in Pearse Stadium and Brendan Bugler puts Clare three up. Great start to the second half by the Banner.

Dublin 1-16 Tipperary 0-10: Now it’s Bubbles on free-taking duties for Tipp and he fires over a monster from inside his own 65.

Dublin 1-16 Tipperary 0-9: And the sides trade scores again, Mark Schutte for the Dubs, Bubbles O’Dwyer for Tipp.

Tipp sub: Conor O’Brien is on for Conor O’Mahony.

Dublin 1-15 Tipperary 0-8: James Woodlock and Paul Ryan trade scores.

Cian O'Callaghan with Jason Forde Cian O'Callaghan and Jason Forde tangle. Donall Farmer / INPHO Donall Farmer / INPHO / INPHO

Three wides on the trot for Tipp.

Dublin 1-14 Tipperary 0-7: Tipp change it up as Callanan is relieved of free-taking duties and Jason Forde takes over. His first one is an easy one, and he points it.

Tipp sub: Conor Kenny on for Gearoid Ryan.

Dublin 1-14 Tipperary 0-6: Paul Ryan points the 65.

Dublin 1-13 Tipperary 0-6: Liam Rushe drops deep into midfield to claim possession. He races clear of Thomas Stapleton and points.

Dublin 1-12 Tipperary 0-6: Bubbles O’Dwyer points — that’s only Tipp’s third point from play this afternoon.

Galway 1-9 Clare 1-8 (HT): Jonathan Glynn’s goal just before the break has the Tribesmen in front by one at the break.

Dublin 1-12 Tipperary 0-5: Shane Durkin stretches the Dublin lead to 10.

Callanan has a chance to open Tipp’s second-half account but again, he’s off the mark with a free.

Two changes at the break for Tipp — Denis Maher and Shane McGrath off for Ronan Maher and Thomas Stapleton.

Clare 1-7 Galway 0-9: Clare lead Galway for the first time as we approach the break in Pearse Stadium — John Conlon’s goal on 29 minutes the decisive moment so far.

Michael Carton with Seamus Callanan Michael Carton competes with Seamus Callanan Donall Farmer / INPHO Donall Farmer / INPHO / INPHO

Dublin 1-11 Tipperary 0-5

Conal Keaney wallops Shane McGrath as the two contest a ball in midfield, and picks up a booking for his troubles.

Callanan’s free is the final act of the half… and yup, you’ve guessed it, it’s wide. That’s the perfect 10 for Tipp in the first half.

After 25 minutes in Salthill, it’s Galway 0-8 Clare 0-4.

It’s obviously contagious. Paul Ryan misses with a free for the Dubs as we approach the break.

Make that nine Tipp wides…

Seamus Callanan sends a 60m+ free wide. Tipp are leaving far too many easy points out there.

As I type, Callanan has another wide. That’s eight now by my count and just two points from play.

Dublin 1-11 Tipperary 0-5: Two quick scores for Dublin as Paul Ryan knocks over a free and then Mark Schutte tacks on another.

Brendan Maher with Shane Durkin Brendan Maher with Shane Durkin Donall Farmer / INPHO Donall Farmer / INPHO / INPHO

Dublin 1-9 Tipperary 0-5: Seamus Callanan points a free from a difficult spot out on the sideline.

Dublin 1-9 Tipperary 0-4: Darren Gleeson is under serious pressure as he tries to play the ball out from the back and as he tries to wriggle free, he takes too many steps. Ryan points the free.

Dublin 1-8 Tipperary 0-4: Superb score by Dublin wing-back Chris Crummy. Tipp’s wasteful shooting is really costing them – Jason Forde and Seamus Callinan take their wide total to six.

Dublin 1-7 Tipperary 0-4: Bubbles O’Dwyer wins the scramble for possession 45m out and points.

Over in Pearse Stadium, points from Bobby Duggan and Colin Ryan make it Galway 0-5 Clare 0-3.

Dublin 1-7 Tipperary 0-3: Paul Ryan finds the space to turn, shoot and score. That’s his third of the afternoon so far.

Dublin 1-6 Tipperary 0-3: Ryan O’Dwyer seizes on a mistake by Paul Curran and points.

Dublin 1-5 Tipperary 0-3: Shane McGrath gets one back for the visitors.

GOAL FOR DUBLIN! Dublin 1-5 Tipperary 0-2: Liam Rushe finally gets Paul Curran turned and he spots Eamonn Dillon racing inside on the overlap. The pass is precise, as is the finish. Dublin lead by six.

Galway have taken an early 0-2 to 0-1 lead over Clare in Pearse Stadium.

Dublin 0-4 Tipperary 0-2: Colm Cronin gets his first of the day.

Dublin 0-3 Tipperary 0-2: Paul Ryan points to give Dublin the lead for the first time.

Dublin sub: Ryan O’Dwyer replaces Ross O’Carroll.

Brendan Maher plays in Ryan on the left. He fizzes a shot across the face of the Dublin goal, inviting a touch, but it never arrives. Still all square here at two apiece.

Gearoid Ryan lines up a score but he’s blocked at the vital moment by Paul Schutte. Great defending.

Tipperary 0-2 Dublin 0-2: Sutcliffe makes amends immediately, pointing from underneath the main stand.

Tipperary 0-2 Dublin 0-1: Danny Sutcliffe is penalised for three catches, and from his own 65, Callanan points the free.

Lovely fielding by Gearoid Ryan who gets out in front of Paul Schutte. He undoes all the good work with a misplaced pass to Denis Maher and it goes out for a Dublin sideline.

Tipperary 0-1 Dublin 0-1: Danny Sutcliffe plays in Eamonn Dillon who points beautifully from the left.

Tipperary 0-1 Dublin 0-0: Seamus Callanan opens the scoring with a big free.

Mikey Carton slips under pressure from Gearoid Ryan but Dublin manage to clear their lines. Still no score.

Wayward shooting from both sides in the opening minutes. Ross O’Carroll should score for Dublin but puts it left.

We’re underway in Parnell Park.

We’re hearing that throw-in in Pearse Stadium has been pushed back by 10 minutes due to traffic congestion.

Bonkers game. Head is dizzy watching that scoreboard bounce back and forth. Entertaining enough but ulster a little lucky I feel. Scarlets are no greats shakes either. Maybe McFarland wasn’t the problem after all…!

Dalton is a block of a man, I thought he showed up well. I’m encouraged by young lads leaving to have different rugby/life experiences. I’ve always thought Irish rugby lacks diversity in many senses of the word. Now he’s back – it will be interesting to see what he can offer.

Twas great entertainment to be fair. You have to appreciate a good contest and that surely was one. When your team gives you something to enthuse about and can involve the crowd as they did tonight then there is a heart beat there and so, plenty of hope.

@Michael Murray: a very young team and coaching staff. It’ll need time – there’s talent but it’s very raw.. I can’t see them come close to the playoffs or qualifying for CC though. Will that be accepted?

@Michael Corkery: ….unsure of Richie Murphy but yes to not looking for quick fixes. Has been too much chopping /changing and consequently it is difficult for what is a tremendously loyal and supportive fan base to get behind so much disruption. Patience is needed. Build something the fans can fall back in love with……just unsure Murphy is capable. Actually think you have identified the core issue more than he has.

@Michael Murray: with a horrific injury list at Ulster it has been necessary to chop and change
I am sure that probably no one would like to see the end of changes more than Richie Murphy.
The previous management let a number of key players go along with leaving a massive hole in the finances and then the departure of Moore and Kitsoft were unforeseen Events which has left a massive gap.

My god Ulster are some shambles of a rugby team. So so Sloppy. Only Mcnabney came out of this with any credit. The rubbish we are seeing from Munster, Ulster and Connacht on a weekly basis cannot be understated. Connacht determined to press the self destruct button again tonight.

Raw sort of game 12 points down before an Ulster had touch the ball ( nearly) and then 10 more given away stupidly penalty before half time and a lose ball with no defence behind the ball.

The sort of mistakes which can dishearten many ,

Front row is a problem with a lack of ability to get the ball beyond the gain line the back is young and in experience likewise the half backs

And an injiury list too many key players and players some having to play out of position makes for a fragile defence .

After 5 minutes I expected to the side to lose that they didn’t gives hope for the future but maybe not this year but it requires a better front row to be acquired
