Season’s greetings! It’s over to the KC Stadium for the first of ten top flight games today. Hull City host Manchester United at 12.45pm and here is how the rest of the day is looking:

Hull  City: McGregor, Bruce, Chester, Davies, Elmohamady, Figueroa, Meyler, Huddlestone, Livermore, Graham, Sagbo. Subs: Harper, Rosenior, Faye, McShane, Koren, Boyd, Fryatt.

Manchester United: De Gea, Rafael, Smalling, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Cleverley, Fletcher, Young, Rooney, Welbeck. Subs: Lindegaard, Vidic, Carrick, Fabio, Kagawa, Januzaj, Hernandez.

It’s a big day for Scottish midfielder Darren Fletcher, who has won his battles with an ulcerative colitis condition and starts for the first time since December 2012. Another United midfielder Michael Carrick is on the bench having returned from injury.

Hull, meanwhule, are unchanged from the XI which drew with West Brom last Saturday.

GOAL! Hull City 1-0 Manchester United (James Chester)

We’ve got an early goal and it has gone to the home side. Hull win a corner and Tom Huddlestone delivers. Alex Bruce, son of manager Steve, wins a header and former United youth James Chester volleys into the roof of the net.

Valencia, Cleverley and Welbeck combine to play in Ashley Young, who is stretching to make contact and catches Tigers keeper Allan McGregor. Free-kick Hull.

GOAL! Hull City 2-0 Manchester United (David Meyler)

Terrible defending from United and they’re now  two goals down. A scramble in the box sees Irish midfielder David Meyler shoot on target before the effort is deflected over the line by the toe of Jonny Evans. It could yet go down as an own goal.

More trouble for David Moyes as Raphael has limped off with looks like a groin injury. Adnan Januzaj is on in his place.

GOAL! Hull City 2-1 Manchester United (Chris Smalling)

They’ve got one back. A free-kick from the right is curled into the penalty area and Chris Smalling connects with an excellent glancing header.

GOAL! Hull City 2-2 Manchester United (Wayne Rooney)

What a strike! Rooney and Welbeck combine before the former smashes the ball into the top corner from 20 yards.

Januzaj has been yellow carded for a late tackle on Elmohamady.

Half-time: Hull City 2-2 Manchester United

Two substitutions for Hull at half-time. David Meyler and Allan McGregor are off with Robert Koren and veteran goalkeeper Steve Harper replacing the pair.

Danny Graham tees up Yannick Sagbo who strikes clean on target but it’s straight at David De Gea and the Spaniard punches clear.

Hull then get themselves a corner and Curtis Davies rises highest but heads wide.

Antonio Valencia, playing full-back since Raphael’s departure, misses a clearance and brings down Sagbo as he scrambles back. That’s a yellow card for the Ecuadorian, who has ruled himself out of the next game against Norwich.

Darren Fletcher has lasted 60 minutes and will make way for Javier Hernandez. Great to see the Scot back in action.

CHANCE FOR HULL! Alex Bruce comes agonisingly close with a header which comes back out off the crossbar.

Wayne Rooney is now playing in the middle.

GOAL! Hull City 2-3 Manchester United (James Chester own goal)

United are in front for the first time today. Welbeck finds Young, whose cross is headed into his own net by James Chester.

Rooney tries a free-kick from 25 yards and complains about not receiving a corner when it goes wide. He picks up a caution for his descent.

George Boys is on for Maynor Figueroa.

Michael Carrick makes his return to the team after his Achilles injury. The England midfielder replaces Ashley Young.

And Alex Bruce needs treatment after colliding with the post. There’s a lot of blood coming from his nose.

Five minutes remain and United look quite content to run down the clock.

Good work from Sagbo to cross for Graham but De Gea saves. Moments later, the United goalkeeper gets himself in all kinds of trouble by missing a punch before recovering with a well-timed tackle.

RED CARD FOR ANTONIO VALENCIA. Already on a yellow, he kicks the ball away after conceding a free-kick.

Huddlestone lumps the ball forward and Boyd picks out Chester, who is stopped by De Gea. Hull will surely feel desperately unlucky if they get nothing from this game.
