THE PAST 24 hours in Rio have been eventful to say the least.

On today’s show, Niall Kelly joins us from Rio to describe the scenes as president of the Olympic Council of Ireland, Pat Hickey, was arrested.

It turned out to be one of Niall and Sinead’s busiest days in Brazil, in what was a relatively quiet day for the Irish athletes.

There was some actual Olympic action too, however, and we look back at the opening round of women’s golf, as Leona Maguire and Stephanie Meadow represented Team Ireland.

We also talk about the disappointing end to Ciara Everard’s Olympics, as she failed to progress past her 800m heat.

It’s not all doom and gloom on today’s show, however, as we preview Thomas Barr’s 400m hurdles final, which takes place at 4pm Irish time today.

Barr won his semi-final in emphatic fashion to earn a spot in today’s final. We discuss whether he can reproduce a finish like that today.
