AUSTRALIA ARE HEADING to Chicago to face the US Eagles as their final preparation game before September’s World Cup.

In an effort to promote the big game in Soldier Field, the Wallabies sent their two favourite Nic(k)s, Cummins and White, stateside to bear the brunt of all the Land-Down-Under, Shrimp-On-The-Barbie rhetoric.

In Cummins’ case at least, they couldn’t have picked a better man for the job. Here’s how the winger reacted to Fox’s Chicago presenter calling him ‘The Honey Bear’ on a morning news segment over the weekend.

Great sport as he is, The Honey Badger didn’t let it faze him and he regrouped without a complaint and ended up demonstating some rugby skills.

Basically, we just pass it, mate.”

All sounds like good clean fun, right? It was, until the probing questioning about why exactly he’s called the Honey Badger.

“If you find yourself in a situation: head down, bum up and have a crack at ‘em.”

After that  innocuous yet inspiring initial answer, Cummins’ detail of the HB’s dark side must surely have left some sensitive souls as an emotional wreck for the rest of the day.

“That’s true (honey badgers bite). There’s a documented case where it took on a fully-grown male lion. Basically, he’s clawed the canastas off the big fella and he trotted off round the corner and died of blood loss.”

Have a great day, kids!
