In a landmark decision, an inquest jury ruled today that the football fans who died in the 1989 tragedy were unlawfully killed, bringing an end to almost three decades of cover-ups and lies.

After the verdicts were read out, some of the families gathered on the steps of the Warrington court where they broke into a spontaneous rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone, the Liverpool FC anthem.
