A mixed day for Shefflin as he fired home 1-2 but then tore his cruciate before half-time and was forced off. Kilkenny still ran out winners by 2-19 to 1-15 against Limerick and Shefflin had played his part as captain.

Shefflin bounced back from injury to hit 0-8 as Kilkenny hammered Waterford by 3-30 to 1-13 in the All-Ireland decider.

1-8 for Henry, including the goal from the crucial second-half penalty, that enabled Kilkenny to see off Tipperary by 2-22 to 0-23 in an epic and pulsating final.

On this occasion Shefflin fired over 0-7 as Kilkenny responded to the previous year’s defeat by beating Tipperary 2-17 to 1-16 in the decider

After grabbing 0-12 in the drawn game, Henry stood up to bag 0-9 in the replay as Kilkenny saw off Galway at the second time of asking by 3-22 to 3-11.

No scores on this occasion for Shefflin as he comes on as a substitute but he does set up Colin Fennelly for the insurance point as Kilkenny defeat Tipperary in the replay by 2-17 to 2-14 to seal Henry’s place in history.
