HARRY REDKNAPP HAS played down reports linking him with Premier League strugglers Newcastle United.
Current boss Steve McClaren is under pressure as Newcastle head coach after a 3-1 loss to AFC Bournemouth saw them slump to second bottom in the league table.
The club have won just two of their past 12 league fixtures and face the serious threat of relegation to the Championship for a second time since 2009.
However, when asked if he had held talks with Newcastle over replacing McClaren, Redknapp told TV3 last night: โNo, Iโve never spoken to anybody at Newcastle.
โSteveโs still in a job. I like Steve McClaren. Iโve worked with Steve, heโs an excellent coach, manager, whatever, but he needs a result quickly. But Iโve never spoken to them.
โI was getting on the plane today from Southampton, and everybody thought I was heading to Newcastle. I was heading to Dublin.
โIf something came along that was interesting, I would. Most of the offers Iโm getting at the moment are from far off places in the world where I donโt feel like travelling to at the moment.โ
Newcastleโs next test is away to league leaders Leicester City on Monday.

Great news for MidWest soccer but unless Limerick FC or whatever name they apply under get big sponsorship and a set fan base its gonna keep happening
So is Munster Football Club Limited t/a Limerick FC the same organisation that operates the Limerick Utd who have been granted the underage LOI licence or are there now 2 Limerick clubs? Only fair that Limerick NewCo are allowed to compete without pause in the same way Cork and other teams were in the recent past.
