Man United's primary transfer target is 'in talks' with two other European heavyweights

Meanwhile, Newcastle could be lining up a former Premier League legend as their new manager.

BORUSSIA DORTMUND MIDFIELDER Ilkay Gundogan has confirmed that he is in talks with other clubs over a transfer this summer.

The Germany international has been linked with Manchester United but it’s believed he has been speaking to Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

“We are holding talks yes, but no decision has been made. I can’t say more than that on this,” he said.

Gundogan, 24, added that his future does not definitely lie away from Dortmund. “I’ll leave it open as to whether they continue with or without me.

“BVB are a great team and a really good coach is coming. “I don’t know how the team will look next season. The challenge will be to get the great potential of this team back on the pitch. We managed to do that too little during the last year.

“In some ways we’re glad this difficult season is over now.”

Dortmund spent the campaign off the pace in the Bundesliga and only qualified for the Europa League on the final day of the season.

On Saturday, they lost the DFP-Pokal final 3-1, ending the reign of coach Jurgen Klopp on a disappointing note in the process.

Meanwhile, there are reports this morning suggesting Newcastle are lining up Patrick Vieira as their new manager. Sky Sports say the former Arsenal midfielder will meet with the club next week.

His contract at Manchester City as elite development officer expires this summer, although Steve McClaren has been installed as the bookmakers’ favourite to take over at St James Park.
