TIPPERARY’S GREG BRODERICK and his mount MHS Going Global have advanced to the next round of the individual jumping competition at the Rio Olympics.
Broderick, who is competing in his first Games, finished in a tie for 53rd, which was just inside the top 60 places that qualifies for Tuesday’s second round.
The Thurles native looked set for a flawless round, before the pair knocked down the first and second part of the last fence to finish with eight faults.
The 31-year-old will need an improved performance on Tuesday however, with just the top 45 going through to Wednesday’s qualifier, before a further 10 are cut for Friday’s final.

There is always room for the bully boy when it comes to soccer in Ireland, and thats from grass roots right to the top,,Kids still togging out in containers while the CEO of IFA is on a huge salary with perks.
Why is it at most lge of Ireland clubs that the board are nearly always the ones to drop the team in the gutter either by non payment of wages or late payment , players offered late contracts or treated very poorly in a non professional way , and yet they expect players to be professional . A lot of snakes or back stabbers looking for to be respected ?
