THERE WAS GOOD news for Ireland international Marc Wilson today, as the defender was named in Stoke’s starting XI for the first time this season against in-form Leicester.
A mixture of injuries and the good form of others mean Wilson had played just once from the bench before today.
However, Wilson won’t be too happy with how the game panned out. The Potters were 2-0 up thanks to goals from Bojan Krkic and Jon Walters, before a Riyad Mahrez penalty and a Jamie Vardy strike brought the visitors level at the Britannia Stadium.
Meanwhile, there was less positive news for two other Irish defenders — John O’Shea missed Sunderland’s loss to Bournemoth through illness, while Ciaran Clark had to be content with a place on the bench for Villa’s match with West Brom.
