Gonzaga College 19-10 Wesley College

GONZAGA SURVIVED A nervy second half to ensure that their name goes into the hat for tomorrow’s Leinster Schools Senior Cup quarter-final draw.

A dogged Wesley College were always within touching distance until injury time in Castle Avenue when Harry O’Grady sealed Gonzaga’s win with a third try.

The sides were level at the break, 7-7, with Harry Brennan cancelling out Tim Spencer’s intercept try which had given Wes an early lead.

Out-half Adam Curry nudged the Ballinteer school back in front with a penalty, but Gonzaga dug deep to come from behind for a second time, Alex McEvoy forcing his way through some determined defence for a try which Oran James converted for a 14-10 lead.

And Gonzaga held off the Wesley threat until O’Grady scored at the death.
