'I want to experience the electricity of Celtic Park once more' - Buffon

Buffon wants one last taste of Celtic Park after experiencing it in 2003 and 2014.

GIANLUIGI BUFFON HAS expressed his desire for Juventus to draw Celtic in this evening’s Champions League draw as he enters what will potentially be the final season of his career.

Buffon has one year left on his Juventus contract, and though he hinted he would stay beyond this season were his Juventus side finally to lift the Champions League trophy, he’s cognizant of the fact that his career is on the wind-down.

With that in mind, he wishes to play in as many iconic Europe grounds as possible this term, and speaking ahead of the draw in Monaco (5pm, BT Sport 2 or live stream on UEFA.com), Buffon told the Daily Record that a trip to Glasgow would be one of his ideal destinations.

“I want to experience electricity of Celtic Park once more,” the Italian goalkeeper said.

“Playing in the Champions League allows you to experience some of the most exciting stadiums in Europe and when you are younger you take that for granted as there are many more opportunities ahead of you.

“But as you get older you realise there are things you perhaps won’t experience again.

“I want to test myself at the Bernabeu and Camp Nou again, I want to play in another special evening game at Old Trafford. I want to experience the electric atmosphere of Celtic Park once more.

“Hopefully I can experience some of those things again – but the reality is that some of them I won’t.”

During his long reign in Juve’s net, Buffon has collected three runners-up medals in Champions League finals. At the start of this season, he explained that he was 99.9% certain it would be his last, but confirmed that the opportunity to play for the Club World Cup ‘and other trophies’ might tempt him to extend his stay should Juventus reign supreme come May.

Buffon has previously played for Juventus at Celtic Park in both 2003 and 2014.
