16-year-old Hoops goalkeeper set for Manchester City move - reports

Gavin Bazunu has really caught the eye since making his senior breakthrough at Shamrock Rovers.

IT LOOKS LIKE 16-year-old Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu is heading to Manchester City shortly, with reports emerging that the Premier League champions have secured his signature.

The Irish Daily Star are reporting that City will pay the Hoops an initial fee of €350,000 for the teenage sensation and Bazunu will sign a pre-contract agreement with Pep Guardiola’s side before officially signing in January.

The young Dubliner has caught the eye of many since making his senior debut for Shamrock Rovers in June and is one of six nominees for July’s League of Ireland Player of the Month award.

He recently made an outstanding penalty save to deny Cork City’s Kieran Sadlier en route to keeping his fourth consecutive clean sheet in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division, and has also impressed in the Europa League.

Liverpool, Manchester United, Celtic, Tottenham and Norwich City were all reportedly linked with signing the player, with Rovers understood to have rejected a €200,000 bid from Spurs.
