SHAMROCK ROVERS’ TEENAGE keeper Gavin Bazunu has been named the SSE Airtricity / SWAI Player of the Month for July.
The 16-year-old has been outstanding in goal since breaking into the Hoops’ first team in June, saving a penalty in their 0-0 draw against champions Cork City and then starring in their Europa League defeat to AIK.

A host of Premier League clubs have already been linked with a move for the young stopper, with Manchester City reportedly leading the race to sign Bazunu to a pre-contract.
Dundalk pair Chris Shields and Michael Duffy finished second and third respectively in the July vote.
“I have been in with the first-team squad all season but had no idea that the opportunity to play would come along so soon for me,” Bazunu said.
He added: “I am grateful to everyone who has helped me and to everyone who continues to help me at the club – my team-mates, all the staff, the fans and my family and friends.
“Rovers is everything to me and I just want to keep working hard, do my Leaving Certificate next year, and be the best footballer that I can be.”
