Neville’s ill-fated tenure with Valencia came to an end after just four months in March and he is now keen to return to punditry once England’s involvement in Euro 2016 is over.
Currently in France, the 41-year-old has been Roy Hodgson’s assistant manager since 2012, a role he has combined with his media work.
Neville’s return to Monday Night Football will be welcome news for viewers after he had forged a reputation as one of the game’s most insightful pundits.
He will appear on our screens again alongside Jamie Carragher with Dave Jones replacing Ed Chamberlin, who recently announced he was becoming the face of ITV’s racing coverage.
Neville endured a forgettable spell at the Mestalla as his first managerial job didn’t go according to plan. He won just 10 out of 28 games in charge.
