GALWAY FOOTBALL PAUL Conroy and Waterford hurler Austin Gleeson have been rewarded for their playing exploits in the month of June.
The pair were this morning named the GAA-GPA Opel Player of the Month winners for June.
Conroy saw off fellow nominees in Ryan McHugh (Donegal) and Diarmuid Connolly (Dublin).
The St James club man delivered an outstanding display in June to help Galway stun Mayo in the Connacht semi-final. Theyโre busy preparing now for Sundayโs Connacht final replay against Roscommon.
A man-of-the-match performance in the Munster semi-final against Clare, secured the hurling honour for Waterford player Gleeson. He saw off the other nominees in Tipperaryโs Cathal Barrett and Kilkennyโs Jonjo Farrell.
Gleeson and his Waterford teammates suffered a major setback last Sunday when they suffered a heavy defeat against Tipperary but they were back to winning ways at U21 level last night when they hammered Clare.
