Who have you got?
5 Aug 2018
2:05PM
Galway 0-1 Clare 0-0 - We’re underway in Thurles, and approaching the one-minute mark Joseph Cooney has an effort blocked over the sideline on the left-hand side. Joe Canning goes short and gets the return to fire Galway into the lead. Nice score.
5 Aug 2018
2:07PM
Galway 0-2 Clare 0-0 - Canning doubles his and Galway’s tally with a free from the right.
5 Aug 2018
2:09PM
Galway 0-3 Clare 0-0 - David Burke with a fine score from halfway after a brilliant block in midfield.
5 Aug 2018
2:10PM
Galway 0-4 Clare 0-0 - Amazing score by Joe. Galway on fire early again.
5 Aug 2018
2:12PM
Galway 0-5 Clare 0-1 – Moments after Clare get off the mark, Conor Whelan bursts into Banner territory and fires over.
5 Aug 2018
2:15PM
Galway 0-6 Clare 0-2 - A Peter Duggan free gets Clare back to within three, but Whelan stretches the Tribesmen’s lead back to four with a tidy score from the right flank.
Galway 0-8 Clare 0-2 - Just over quarter of an hour gone. The All-Ireland champions are well on top. Conor Cooney slips but recovers and fires over from close range.
Not 20 seconds later, David Burke gets his second.

2:22PM
Galway 0-9 Clare 0-3 - Great work by Niall Burke – a late change for Gearoid McInerney – who drives at Clare and lays it back to Cathal Mannion for an easy score.
Galway 1-9 Clare 0-5 - Duggan lands his third free. Clare, in fairness, seem to have curtailed the Galway onslaught somewhat.
SAVE! – Just as I say that, Conor Cooney fashions a goal chance but has his effort smothered by Donal Tuohy! That’s a really good stop by the Banner ‘keeper, who rushes out and stops a potentially fatal score.
5 Aug 2018
2:34PM
Galway 1-9 Clare 0-5 - A couple of times, now, Clare have battled hard to create the opportunity for a kind of rousing, psychologically-boosting score, but have been off the mark with the final effort.
David McInerney, there, emerged from a midfield slugfest and made a great run, but his effort was wayward.

2:42PM
Galway 1-9 Clare 0-6 - Peter Duggan makes a balls of a sideline cut and it dribbles wide. A fair representation of Clare’s first half, and to be fair to Duggan there was absolutely nobody moving for him.
Podge Collins gets Clare to within six at the break with his side’s third score from play.
You’d imagine Clare will tear into this now with a kind of abandon. Three points from play is a woeful return and Pádraic Mannion is hoovering up in his role as sweeper for the champions, but in the last 10 minutes of the first half Clare at least turned it into a phonebooth brawl and slowed the scoring across the board.
The Banner aren’t out of it, but they need to improve their shooting and eradicate the shoddy errors; they’ve had 19 scoring attempts – including those which have dropped short or remained in play – and converted only six. 11 of those misses were wides.
They’ve also already swapped Peter Duggan and John Conlon to try and get things moving up top, but it seems pointless if they keep launching Hail Marys in on top of Mannion.
Galway will be the happier and have physically dominated proceedings, but one suspects they’ll need to push on themselves if they’re to kill this off.
How important could this man’s goal be?

Second half
The second half is underway in Thurles. Can Galway see this one out, or is there a sting in the Clare tail? We’re about to find out.
5 Aug 2018
3:01PM
David McInerney clips Johnny Glynn across the shins with his hurley and concedes a soft free-in. We have something that would barely qualify as a shemozzle in front of the Clare goal – Canning is involved and his helmet is off.
McInerney and Canning are booked, the free is overturned, and Clare emerge with the ball from the resulting throw-in.
5 Aug 2018
3:03PM
Galway 1-10 Clare 0-7 - Ian Galvin gets the type of fist pump-inducing score that Clare needed after winning that battle in front of their own goal.
Conor Whelan puts Galway back out to six in front.
5 Aug 2018
3:04PM
Galway 1-11 Clare 0-7 - Joe Canning leading the way for his side.
GOOOOOAAALLLLLL!!! Galway 1-11 Clare 1-7 - OHHH, WHAT A GOAL BY SHANE O’DONNELL!!! The 24-year-old goes on a mazing run and shows unbelievable composure to dummy a shot and touch the ball beyond the last defender before firing home on the hop. Stunning finish!
5 Aug 2018
3:09PM
Galway 1-11 Clare 1-9 - Duggan with his fourth and fifth frees in quick succession. Great work by O’Donnell again to earn the second. Clare are buzzing now.
5 Aug 2018
3:11PM
Galway 1-12 Clare 1-9 - The champions produce one of the team scores of the year and it’s expertly finished by Niall Burke.
5 Aug 2018
3:12PM
Galway 1-13 Clare 1-9 - Conor Whelan audaciously attempts to lob the ball over a Clare defender but gets caught on his way to collect it. Canning converts the resulting free. Really good response to that Clare purple patch by Galway.
GOOOOOOAAALLLLLLL!!!! Galway 1-14 Clare 2-9 - PETER DUGGAN WITH AN ABSOLUTE SCREAMER! OH, WHAT A GOAL AGAIN FOR CLARE! HE THUNDERS IT PAST JAMES SKEHILL FROM LONG RANGE!
Up the other end, Canning responds with a free.
5 Aug 2018
3:17PM
Galway 1-14 Clare 2-10 - Ian Galvin brings Clare back to within a point.
Galway 1-15 Clare 2-10 – Canning with the free – his seventh score – and Galway lead by two.
5 Aug 2018
3:26PM
Galway 1-15 Clare 2-11 - Aron Shanagher makes an immediate impact upon his introduction, and there’s only a point between them!
5 Aug 2018
3:30PM
OFF THE POST! – Shane O’Donnell bursts through and puts Shanagher in on goal. Skehill makes a great save but the sliotar rebounds to Shanagher – he hits it first-time from point-blank range but it comes off the post! The stuff of nightmares!!!
5 Aug 2018
3:31PM
Galway 1-16 Clare 2-12 - Two unreal scores from either side: a Canning sideline cut and a Conlon effort up the other end.
Galway 1-17 Clare 2-12 - Peter Duggan has an effort drop short and Skehill does well to take it in traffic. He sets Galway down the other end and Niall Burke fires one over his shoulder to stretch Galway’s lead to two!
What a finish we’re in for here!

Galway 1-17 Clare 2-13 -Duggan free. One minute. One point.
HERE WE GO!
Galway sub Davey Glennon fires wide left from a tight, tight angle on the right wing! Why did he put the ball dead!?! Clare will have one last chance!
Tuohy goes short and they work the ball out to Tony Kelly… OH NO, TONY! His attempted pass creeps over the sideline! Just pure fatigue. That could be that!

A look at Glynn’s goal:
