The sides meet four months after their league final meeting when Galway hammered Tipperary at the Gaelic Grounds. Since then Galway have kept on winning with Dublin, Offaly and Wexford pushed aside as they lifted the Leinster title.
For their part Tipperary endured further difficulties when unseated at the first Munster hurdle by Cork. They’ve steadied themselves with qualifier wins over Westmeath and Dublin before showcasing their attacking class in the quarter-final success against Clare. Couple of concerns about their form at the back but the Liam MacCarthy Cup holders are back where they want to be.
