GALWAY FC HAVE appointed Tommy Dunne as first team manager for next season.
The newly-formed club, which is made up of the Galway United Supporters Group (GUST), Mervue United, Salthill Devon and the Galway & District League, has applied for an Airtricity League licence for 2014 and is preparing to compete in the First Division.
Dunne parted company with Cork City back in August after a poor run of form and Galway are delighted to have agreed a deal with the former Shamrock Rovers defender.
“Tommy’s managerial success with Cork from start-up and working with a tight budget coupled with his ambition, energy and enthusiasm matched our vision for the club and without doubt makes him the right person to bring Galway Football Club forward,” a statement reads.
“We are extremely fortunate to have someone of the calibre and experience of Tommy accept the position to lead Galway Football Club on its journey into League of Ireland football and are genuinely excited by the challenges that lie ahead for all Galwegians.”
Scotland always had an excellent backline but ever had a solid 10 and their pack was always relatively lightweight. This has changed with the likes of Nel , Denton , Russell and the Gray brothers.
