ALL-IRELAND HURLING champions Galway will face the winners of the 2018 Allianz Hurling League in an exhibition match in Australia next year.
The one-off fixture was this afternoon announced as Michael D Higgins continues his state visit of Australia, and follows the confirmation of a three-Test rugby series between Australia and Ireland next summer.
Galway ended their All-Ireland famine in September with victory over Waterford at Croke Park having lifted their 10th league crown as well as the Leinster title earlier in the year.

The Australian ambassador to Ireland, Richard Andrews, says the game will help show his country how ‘fantastic’ hurling is.
The fixture — a date for which has yet to be announced — will be Galway’s second overseas in the coming months as they prepare to take part in the AIG Fenway Hurling Classic in Boston on 19 November.
Dublin, under new manager Pat Gilroy, will face the Tribesmen while Tipperary will play Clare in the Super 11s format at Fenway Park.
