THE NOMINEES FOR the GAA-GPA Opel player of the month awards for August have been revealed with Dublin, Kerry, Mayo, Waterford, Kilkenny and Tipperary all represented.
Dublin attacker Kevin McManamon, Kerry forward Paul Geaney and Mayo defender Keith Higgins are in the running for the football accolade.
While Waterford’s Austin Gleeson, Kilkenny’s Richie Hogan and Tipperary’s Padraic Maher will contest the hurling award.

McManamon enjoyed an impressive month. He struck 0-2 for Dublin en route to winning man-of-the-match against Kerry last Sunday while also starring in the quarter-final against Donegal.
Higgins was central to Mayo's victories over Tyrone and Tipperary in August while Geaney shot 1-4 in a superb showing in the epic semi-final against Dublin.
In hurling, Austin Gleeson scored 1-6 over the course of their two-game semi-final saga against Kilkenny while Richie Hogan hit 0-8 for the Cats in those matches.
And Maher's defensive play was vital to the Tipperary cause as they saw off Galway in their semi-final clash.
The winners will be announced on Wednesday 7 September.
