Police carry out controlled explosion after unattended bag found outside French team hotel

The host nation face Portugal in tonight’s Euro 2016 final.

POLICE HAVE CARRIED out a control explosion on a ‘suspicious package’ found outside the French team hotel in Paris, just hours before this evening’s Euro 2016 final.

Authorities evacuated the area around the Equipede Hotel after a bag was left unattended near the French team bus.

The bomb squad carried out the controlled explosion shortly after 5.30pm local time and it has since been confirmed that it was a false alarm.

France face Portugal in tonight’s final at the Stade de France.
