Frank Lampard has been officially unveiled as a BT Sport pundit for next season

He will make his debut for the channel during Sunday’s Community Shield between Chelsea and Arsenal.

FORMER CHELSEA ACE Frank Lampard has officially joined BT Sport as a pundit for the 2017/18 season.

The 39-year-old will make his debut with Sunday’s Community Shield between his former club and FA Cup champions Arsenal at Wembley.

“I’m delighted to be joining BT Sport,” said Lampard speaking to the channel this week.

“I’m looking forward to an exciting new season both here and in Europe and can’t wait to begin working with the team.”

Lampard is Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer with 211 goals. He left the club in 2014 where he later enjoyed brief stays at both Manchester City and New York FC before retiring in February 2016.

The player has won each competition BT will provide coverage of next season, including the Premier League, Uefa Champions League, Europa League and the FA Cup – meaning he is an ideal pundit to offer analysis and insight, says Head of BT Sport Simon Green.

“It’s no secret that Frank had many offers, both within the game and elsewhere, following his retirement, so we are absolutely thrilled that he has chosen to join the team at BT Sport,” he said.

“Frank’s incredible pedigree on the field means that he’ll regularly be commenting on a competition that he’s won as a player, which we believe gives him fantastic credibility.”

Lampard joins a roster of former England teammates and Champions League winners on the channel, including Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, Owen Hargreaves and Steve McManaman.
