Munster suffer injury setback before season starts after Francis Saili ruled out for 4 months

The New Zealand centre had an operation yesterday.

MUNSTER WILL BE without Francis Saili for the first four months of the new season after he suffered a setback in his recovery from a shoulder injury.

The All Black centre sustained the injury towards the back end of last season and although he had returned to light training, was forced to go under the knife for the second time yesterday.

Saili will be sidelined for up to four months and is unlikely to play much part in Munster’s pre-Christmas schedule, which includes Champions Cup games against Racing 92, Leicester Tigers and Glasgow Warriors.

The province’s Director of Rugby, Rassie Erasmus, also confirmed that captain Peter O’Mahony continues to be sidelined with a knee injury and will miss the pre-season friendly against Zebre this Friday.

Erasmus will also be without the Ireland internationals who were involved in the summer tour of South Africa for the game in Waterford while Tyler Bleyendaal, Sammy Arnold, Johnny Holland and Mark Chisholm are unavailable.
