Bernabeu faithful show a rare bit of class by giving Roma legend Totti standing ovation

The 39-year-old may well have played his last Champions League game tonight.

THERE WAS A wonderful moment in tonight’s Champions League last-16 second leg meeting between Real Madrid and Roma at the Bernabeu.

With the home side leading 2-0 (4-0 on aggregate) thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez, the tie was effectively over.

Despite a recent falling out with club legend Francesco Totti, Roma boss Luciano Spalletti decided to bring the 39-year-old forward on for the final 16 minutes.

As he made his way onto the pitch, the home crowd stood to show their appreciation for veteran Italian, who first played at the ground 21 years ago.

The rumours are that Totti, who has spent his entire career with the Giallorossi, may retire from game at the end of the season meaning there is a good chance it was his final Champions League appearance.

Nice touch.
