THE LEADER OF the An Post Rás has been disqualified from the race after holding onto a team car for assistance during yesterday’s second stage.
Francesco Reda won Sunday’s opening stage from Dunboyne to Carlow but suffered a puncture on Monday and then reportedly hitched a tow from one of the Team Idea 2010 ASD cars in an attempt to rejoin the peleton.
The incident took place with about 20 kilometres remaining and the decision left Reda and his manager fuming at the finishing.
Reda then took to Twitter to vent his anger towards the officials.

The Rás continues today with stage three seeing the riders weave their way from Tipperary to Bearna, a ride totalling 155.9 kilometres.
