Frampton set for Vegas debut in January rematch with Santa Cruz

The Belfast fighter will defend his WBA featherweight title for the first time at the MGM Grand.

CARL FRAMPTON WILL make his Las Vegas debut when he goes toe-to-toe with Leo Santa Cruz in a mouth-watering rematch at the MGM Grand on 28 January.

Cyclone Promotions confirmed the details this evening after ‘The Jackal’ announced that an agreement had been reached with the Mexican last week.

The undefeated Belfast fighter (23-0, 14KOs) became a two-weight world champion when he overcame the then-unbeaten Mexican (32-1-1, 18KOs) on a majority decision in an epic New York contest on 30 July.

It will be Frampton’s first defence of the WBA featherweight title he took off Santa Cruz three months ago.

And right on cue, SHOWTIME released a promotional video for the rematch, as if we weren’t already excited enough.
