UCC RETURNED TO the quarter-finals of the Fitzgibbon Cup for the first time in three years after today’s victory over Maynooth University while IT Carlow and UCD also sealed places in the last eight.
Cillian Buckley and Alan Cadogan saw UCD and UCC triumph today.
UCC claimed their third successive group victory to top Group D after a success away in Maynooth.
They topped their group with the eight-point success after a game where the teams had been tied at 0-9 apiece at the interval before UCC accelerated clear on scoreboard after the break.
UCD finished runners-up in Group D after 1-25 to 0-5 success over Ulster University in Belfast and will now face an away trip in the quarter-finals.

Finally IT Carlow went on a goalscoring spree as they raised six green flags in their success over GMIT. IT Carlow were ahead 4-5 to 0-10 at the break before running out victors by 6-20 to 0-11.
Laois senior Stephen Maher scored a remarkable 3-12 for DJ Carey’s winning side.
