The Limerick woman was joined in the semi-finals by Sycerika McMahon who narrowly missed out on qualifying despite finishing fourth in a time of 31.94.

Doyle claimed her final block with a 31.21 finish, but will take inspiration from her Irish record (30.93) that she can still keep pace with the pace set by Ukraine’s Mariia Liver (30.69) and USA’s Lillia King (30.78).

Doyle, based in the University of Calgary, will go to the starting block at 11.12 am (Irish time) on Friday, and will be the only Irish athlete in the pool on the final day of swimming at the University Games in Gwangju, South Korea.
