Finn Russell gets cited for taking out Dan Biggar in the air - but should he have been?

Fans have been hotly debating whether Russell should be punished even further.

JUST LIKE SAM Warburton’s tip tackle on Vincent Clerc was seen as the start of the clampdown on that offence, it looks like Jared Payne’s red card in last year’s Heineken Cup for tackling Alex Goode in the air will have the same impact.

At the moment there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of consistency in the application of the law with some players getting red cards, some picking up yellows and others not being penalised at all.

Finn Russell and Jonathan Davies were both carded for interfering with airborne players yesterday at Murrayfield but the citing commisioner has decided that only Russell’s incident requires further action.

Should Russell have been sent off for that or was a yellow enough? It will be interesting to see what punishment the out-half is given because it could set the precedent for future incidents of a similar nature.
