Dubliner Fergal O’Brien, who turned professional in 1991, was facing Mark Davis at Crondon Park in Essex when he powered through the opening frame until he was faced with one final black.
After delicately rolling it to the corner and completing his 147, O’Brien couldn’t contain his excitement and for good reason.
It was the very first maximum break of his career and at the age of 43, he becomes the oldest player to tally the magical figure.
