FAI to investigate claims that Shamrock Rovers player was racially abused

Friday’s match was overshadowed by allegations that Graham Burke was the recipient of abuse during the game.

THE FAI HAVE confirmed they are aware of allegations of racial abuse during the Shamrock Rovers-Glenville match on Friday and will move to investigate the matter further.

Rovers player Graham Burke is understood to have been the recipient of the alleged abuse from a Glenville player during his side’s 1-0 win in the FAI Cup first-round game on Friday.

A spokesperson for the association told The42 that they would be investigating the matter further.

If found guilty, the accused player likely faces a lengthy suspension.

Glenville FC have yet to respond to a request for comment from The42.
