Russian fans are willing to fork out how much to get rid of Fabio Capello as manager?

The former England boss is under pressure following defeat to Austria over the weekend.

A GROUP OF Russian football fans have vowed to raise the money to buy current national team coach Fabio Capello out of his contract.

Russia have been disappointing in their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign thus far, sitting eight points behind Group G leaders Austria, who beat them on Sunday night 1-0. Sweden lie four points ahead of the Russians in second.

Capello signed a contract extension in January 2014, meaning he would stay with the national side until 2018, but he is under serious pressure now following his side’s poor performances.

According to BBC Sport, a fundraising website called ‘Fabio go home’ has been set up to raise funds to get rid of the former Juventus boss.

“Recent public surveys show the vast majority of the country’s football lovers want Capello to step down,” said a statement on the website.

“But to do that the Russia’s Football Union (RFU) needs to pay Capello a serious penalty for the cancellation of his contract – €21.4m”

Russia did not win a game at last summer’s World Cup and failed to make it out of the group stages in Euro 2012 in Capello’s only two tournaments in charge. They face the prospect of a play-off to qualify for Euro 2016 now.
