FORMER IRELAND DEFENDER Sean St Ledger has signed for new MLS side Orlando City, it has been confirmed.

The 30-year-old former Leicester and Preston defender had been on trial at the club, and has now signed for the team most famous for having acquired the services of ex-Brazilian superstar Kaka last summer.

“We’re delighted to have Sean on our roster, as he brings a lot of experience at the club and international level,” said Head Coach Adrian Heath.

“He’s a very versatile defender who is comfortable playing in several positions along the backline, which is a big bonus for the squad.”

St Ledger, who has 37 Ireland caps and was an integral part of the side that reached Euro 2012, had been without a club since leaving Ipswich last December.
