Broken collarbone and concussion made for tough league opener for Mayo forward

Evan Regan suffered a big injury setback in Fitzgerald Stadium.

MAYO FORWARD EVAN Regan suffered a league opener to forget in Fitzgerald Stadium yesterday.

The young attacker was involved in this sickening collision early in the Division 1 tie against Kerry and fell awkwardly on his shoulders and neck.

After a lengthy stoppage as Regan was treated by medical personnel, the Ballina Stephenites player was stretchered off. It was later revealed that Regan looks to have broken his collarbone and was concussed.

The timing couldn’t have been worse for Regan as after playing U21 for the county last year, he was recalled to the senior squad for 2015 and was starting to impress.

He shot 1-4 for IT Sligo in their extra-time Sigerson Cup win over Queen’s University last week and had kicked an early point for Mayo in yesterday’s game. We wish him well in his recovery from this injury setback.
