WE ARE CLOSE to the 20-year anniversary of Eric Cantona flying into the stands at Selhurt Park and annihilating a raucous fan with a flying kick. Naturally when we look back at that period, Cantona’s Chuck Norris moment gets most of the attention.

But the press conference he did after the event has arguably become even more famous than the incident itself over the years. Is this the most quotable line in the history of football?

Okay… so the seagulls are the press, right? Cantona is the trawler and the sardines are nuggets of news? Whatever he was talking about, there’s no doubting that Cantona was one of English football’s most interesting characters.

He even played himself brilliantly too.
