Two former League of Ireland strikers on the move on Deadline Day

Eoin Doyle and Conor Sammon have secured loan moves to Portsmouth and Kilmarnock respectively.

IRISH STRIKERS EOIN Doyle and Conor Sammon have secured loan moves on transfer deadline day.

Doyle links up with his former boss Paul Cook at League Two side Portsmouth, who saw off competition from League One’s Bolton for the 28-year-old’s signature.

The Dubliner is hoping to kick-start his career after scoring seven goals in 44 appearances for Preston since he joined them from Cardiff in 2015.

Doyle made just one start for Preston since he was red-carded for fighting with his teammate Jermaine Beckford, after he scored in a 2-1 loss to Sheffield Wednesday in December.

Sammon meanwhile joins Kilmarnock from Hearts on loan until the end of the season. It’s the 30-year-old’s second spell at Rugby Park, he played there between 2008 and 2011.
