Haskell takes seven shirt as Jones names three new faces on England bench

Ollie Devoto, Jack Clifford and Paul Hill could make their debuts in Murrayfield.

EDDIE JONES HAS named three uncapped players on the England bench for Saturday’s Six Nations clash with Scotland at Murrayfield [KO 4.50pm].

In his starting XV, the new England boss has largely kept faith with players who featured prominently under his predecessor, Stuart Lancaster.

George Ford and Owen Farrell make up the 10-12 axis as expected, with Jonathan Joseph, Jack Nowell, Anthony Watson and Mike Brown completing the backline. There is a start for Harlequins’ Danny Care at scrum-half after Ben Youngs was preferred during the World Cup.

Up front, James Haskell takes over in England’s seven shirt for what is certain to be an intense breakdown battle against Vern Cotter’s Scots, with Chris Robshaw moving to blindside flanker.

Joe Launchbury and George Kruis make up an athletic second row pairing, while captain Dylan Hartley is joined by Dan Cole and Joe Marler in a front row that will hope to dominate the set-piece. Billy Vunipola completes the pack at number eight.

Off the bench, Northampton prop Paul Hill, Harlequins back row Jack Clifford and Bath midfielder Ollie Devoto could all make their Test debuts in the Calcutta Cup clash.
