IT WAS AN immensely one-sided affair at Wembley tonight as Gareth Southgate’s England side easily swept aside a weary Scotland in their Group F World Cup qualifier.
Daniel Sturridge gave the hosts the lead after 24 minutes while Adam Lallana and Gary Cahill added two more goals after the break.
Gordon Strachan’s side did have chances, particularly after the hosts had taken the lead.
Grant Hanley spurned a glorious opportunity while early in the second period, James Forrest also put wide when well-placed.

Within minutes, England had grabbed a second through Lallana and haven’t looked back.
With Scotland badly needing a result to breathe new hope and optimism into their hopes of making Russia 2018, this setback could prove costly to Strachan who was already on the ropes ahead of this game.
