The Joe Hart howler that gave Iceland a shock lead against England

The England goalkeeper should have done much better for Iceland’s second goal.

IT WAS A case of saving the best for last in the final game of the Round of 16 in Euro 2016 tonight, as Iceland shocked England by knocking them out of the European Championships in Nice this evening.

Roy Hodgson’s side took the lead inside the first four minutes from a Wayne Rooney penalty, after Raheem Sterling was brought down by Iceland goalkeeper Hannes Halldorson.

Their lead was to last just a minute however, as Ragnar Sigurdsson finished from close range for Iceland, following a long throw from Aron Gunnarsson.

Iceland were not prepared to sit back and soak up England pressure, and they took a shock lead in the 19th minute when an innocuous low shot from Kolbein Sigthorsson slipped under the hand of Joe Hart, to give the tournament’s minnows the lead.

And the nation of less than 330,000 people comfortable held on in the second-half to send England home, which will most likely be the last match in charge for manager Roy Hodgson.
