ENGLAND’S WINNING RUN was extended to 13 matches as Eddie Jones’ men battled to a 27-14 triumph over Argentina despite playing 75 minutes with 14 men after Elliot Daly’s sending off.
The Wasps back, praised for his performance in last week’s victory over Fiji, was dismissed for taking out an airborne Leonardo Senatore, who landed on his neck and did not return after walking from the Twickenham turf.
England led 16-0 late in the first half thanks to the boot of Owen Farrell and a penalty try, awarded when Matias Orlando illegally prevented a certain score for Tom Wood.
But tries either side of the interval from Facundo Isa and Santiago Cordero had the Pumas back within two points and sniffing an end to the hosts’ long unbeaten run.

Argentina could not capitalise on their opportunity, though, and Jonny May’s try secured yet another England victory under Jones, whose biggest concern could be a knee injury picked up by Billy Vunipola with a clash against Australia looming next week.
The Pumas also finished the match with 14 men after Enrique Pieretto was shown red for a stamp on the face of Joe Marler, who was sin-binned for holding his opponent in the first place.
Farrell’s first penalty had given England an early edge but they found themselves a man light a minute later when Daly was sent off.
Argentine errors scuppered their attempts to make a numerical advantage count, Farrell adding six more points from the tee before the 25th minute.
Between those scores, a baying Twickenham crowd were incensed to see Juan Pablo Estelles – a late replacement for the injured Joaquin Tuculet – not see a card of any colour for taking out May in the air.
There was a yellow for Orlando, however, after the wing slapped the ball away with Wood poised for a walk-in try in the left corner.
As Argentina responded, a series of scrums right in front of the posts culminated in Dan Cole being sent to the bin, and from the next reset Isa barged over in the eighth minute of stoppage time.
Up against 13 men, the Pumas picked up where they left off immediately after the restart, working the ball smartly down the left to send Cordero in under the posts.
Yet with Cole back in the action, Farrell extended England’s lead to eight from the tee and, after Pablo Matera was sin-binned for bringing down a maul, victory was secured when May raced clear down the left, with Pieretto’s subsequent indiscretion bringing a sour end to an absorbing contest.
